Envgo joins electric hydrofoil boat startup ranks with NV1

ENVGO Logo

Waterloo, Ontario-based Envgo has introduced the NV1, its first electric hydrofoil boat, joining a growing field of startups aiming to replace noisy, polluting combustion boats with a quiet, zero-emission alternative. Built with a carbon-fiber hull and designed by superyacht architect David Weiss, the six-passenger NV1 uses self-stabilizing hydrofoils making 250 automated adjustments per second to "fly" above the water, reaching speeds up to 50 mph with a range of 80 miles — roughly triple that of typical electric boats. The dual-motor powertrain and 80-kWh battery are paired with automotive-inspired autonomous features, including night vision, 360-degree camera docking assistance, and radar/sonar-based collision avoidance. Founded in 2021 by a team with aerospace, automotive, and marine backgrounds, Envgo is now accepting refundable $1,000 deposits toward production units.
